The Red Letter Challenge: Going
Monday Apr 04, 2022
Monday Apr 04, 2022
As we wind down the Red Letter Challenge and consider the 5th discipleship practice most often cited in the words of Jesus. So far, we talked about being, forgiving, serving, giving, and now, going. The last discipleship precept, going, is the toughest for about 90% of us. Going requires faith, courage, and discomfort. This Sunday we'll talk about going wherever He sends us, and going away from whatever He asks us to leave behind.

The Red Letter Challenge: Giving

Giving, like forgiving, is ultimately about letting go of your sense of entitlement. When you shift your focus from yourself and everything you want and need, it’s like changing your point of view after always looking at something familiar from the same vantage point. Reframing your life to be a disciple and servant of Christ will cause you to be more generous. The amazing thing about it is that it will do more for you than you can imagine.

The Red Letter Challenge: Serving

You have done many good works that gave you a feeling of fulfillment and righteousness. You’ve received praise for some things and were content to be unheralded for others. Some may have been costly in time, talent, and treasure, but it felt worthwhile because the works were good and the means you are good. Many will stand before the LORD on judgment day saying, “LORD, I was good, so I’m entitled to my place in Heaven.” Is that how it works? When you serve, whom do you serve?

The Red Letter Challenge: Forgiving
Monday Mar 14, 2022
Monday Mar 14, 2022
The week of forgiveness in the Red Letter Challenge starts with this message. Before we can be truly forgiving of others, we must learn to forgive ourselves and fully accept God's grace. We, who live in a land of rugged individualists and self-made women and men, find it hard to admit to powerlessness in any situation. Grit and determination, money and influence, and social standing cannot help you with everything. There’s a ton of crud under the cushions of the couch (join us in worship to find out what that means). The LORD knows every little thing about you, even the number of hairs on your head, no matter how carefully you’ve crafted your reputation and image. He alone can cleanse and renew you. In fact, the LORD can’t sit on that couch until He does so!

The Red Letter Challenge: Being
Monday Mar 07, 2022
Monday Mar 07, 2022
The Red Letter Challenge has begun. This week we experience the first message in the series. The world and our pursuits for the sake of the flesh will wear us down with their relentless demands. It doesn’t matter how fast you go, there’s always someone who wants to go fast. Philippians 1:6 says, “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” The only worthwhile respite is found in Christ’s presence. Where and how often to you spend time in His presence? Do the things you do in His Name serve Him more than you?
