B90 - Gideon's Temptation and David's Sin

B90 readings up to this point have,  in some respects, been similar to pulp fiction novels. Yet, many essential truths lie amid intrigues, affairs, and politics. David’s kingdom is still sought by Jews today. However, Christian readers of Scripture realize that the Old Testament is slowly turning toward the New. With and after David, more and more prophecies about the coming Messiah and King of Kings appear.

B90: The First "Rock"

The LORD said, “Be strong and courageous” at least seven times so far in the B90 reading plan. God’s prescription for life under the covenant in the Promised Land is strength and courage.  Joshua led the sanctified people into their covenant home and executed the LORD’s judgment upon evil and sin. Eventually, Jesus will do the same, and His perfect reign will have no end. 

B90: It's Not About You

So far in the B90 journey, there have been some colorful characters, strange people groups, astounding miracles, and rules for everything from fungus to national repentance.  Why? We will talk about that. We will prepare to meet the Judges in the next week's readings and see how God makes the most of the least.

Bible reading, lovers of God recognize that God’s rules and interventions are meant to strengthen God and His people’s relationship. Discipline and consistent devotion to God are acts of love rather than formulas for acquiring God’s blessing. A relationship with the Living God ties one’s temporal life to the Eternal. The Bible in 90 Days: God's Eternal Purpose

The Shiloh family and friends from the community will begin reading the entire Bible in 90 days this weekend. The message will focus on two themes; Why read the entire Bible? and, God's eternal purpose revealed in the Bible. Resurrection!

Near the end of John’s Gospel, he states, “but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that by believing you may have life in his name.” (John 20:31) While our Easter Sunday celebration of the Resurrection and Redemption will feature extra music and scripture reading, it will still include anointed preaching that affirms the resurrection and our shared call to proclaim God's grace to all.

Religious Christians, Jews, and Muslims are obsessed with Jerusalem and the Temple area. Meanwhile, the little village of Bethany disappeared amid suburban sprawl decades ago. Ironically, Jesus returned to Bethany time after time because it was so different from Jerusalem. He even launched the Christian era from there. As he ascended, Christ left a legacy of ascension in Bethany hearts.

There was a quiet, steady increase in sanctification in the village of Bethany. It started when Jesus first arrived and was received. It continued with each visit and each act of humble acceptance. That is what marked Bethany as a place where the LORD loved to be. It was never more plainly expressed than when Mary poured out the nard and washed Jesus’ feet with her hair.
