In today’s reading, Jesus informs his disciples that they are ready to hear straight talk from him. In fact, he says, the Father will have unbroken interaction with Christ’s followers. Jesus said the completion of this change in relationship to the Father meant that he could return home to the Father. Therefore, the Son invites everyone to accept the gift of forgiveness and reconciliation from the Father and then to be transformed by the Spirit. While the world is still dangerous, and its god is appealing it has been overcome. As Spirit-filled disciples, we can be overcomers too.
