This week we will consider the apostle Matthias. What are we to think about the apostles whose stories have been lost through history? Did they do anything that mattered? Was it all about the big three or four named apostles? Suppose the story of Matthias is there to remind us that we are very important to Jesus, but we don’t need to be important anywhere else? Can we live with that?

In this week's episode we visit Pergamum, where Satan has a throne. We hear Jesus's letter to the Church there and find that they are up against some pretty challenging stuff.

In this message we will consider the expectations expressed by Jesus in Acts 1. He foresees his disciples bearing the message and the marks of his salvation. Jesus expects his disciples to take them to friends and neighbors, to communities and regions, to fearful places near and far. With new sight and power from the Holy Spirit we can courageously join in the fulfillment of our Lord’s vision.

In this episode we visit Smyrna and hear Christ's commendation of her perseverence and suffering for His sake.

When the Apostle John says, “I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written [about Jesus]” - it’s not about the words and deeds of Jesus, but the depth of his being. There has never been a more unique person than Jesus, nor will there ever be.

This week we begin reading Christ's letters to the 7 churches. Revelation 2:1-7 is Jesus's report card for the church at Ephesus . . . and who else?

Have you ever heard someone say, “You doubting Thomas”? It’s an unfortunate label that was given to the Apostle who missed the first meeting with our resurrected Lord, Jesus. He simply couldn’t wrap his mind around what they told him. Can you? Why don’t we remember Thomas for his beautiful, spontaneous confession of, “My Lord and my God!”?

Pastor Dan and Bethany continue the current study starting at Revelation 1:9 this week. John wrote Revelation to encourage Christians to resist the cult of emperor worship and to stand firm during persecution. Jesus, the Mighty One, cares for us and stands with us. No matter what we face, He gives us His love and power. But in the end, judgment must come.(Max Lucado)
