In the Book of Ruth Boaz proclaims, "I will redeem it" to Ruth after she asks him to be her family's kinsman redeemer. He will cancel their debts and restore them to their home and community. Likewise, Jesus has redeemed sinful humanity to its home with the Father. Therefore, he has the authority to execute the Father's judgement.

It is one thing to read the story of Ruth as a beautiful love story suitable for a Hallmark Channel feature. It is another thing entirely to recognize her story as the prophetic Word of God. Before we can flesh this reality out, we need a better understanding of the concept of biblical prophecy.
